President Obama, State of The Union, Green Jobs and Hirejam.com

Tonight at 8pm, President Barack Obama will deliver his non-State of The Union address, (since President Obama hasn't been in office for a year, The White House is not calling this State of The Union address, but the "State of the Economy address").

During his address, President Obama will discuss among other things, his new stimulus package, which will lead talk about the new Green economy.

I'm a Green guy, so much so that I created a job platform called hirejam.com, along with a blog, Facebook page, Twitter and few other web 2.0 tools so that people can interact and network.

I created it because it depresses me to watch people lose their jobs, homes and even families because of the economy.

To paraphrase, President Obama " its not about me, but about you", so if I can help any of you out there to find a job in this new green economy, then my platform has served its purpose.

Peace

Nearly 5 million are getting unemployment benefits (AP)
AP - The number of laid-off workers receiving unemployment benefits has jumped to an all-time high near 5 million while new jobless claims remain well above 600,000. Both figures were worse than expected and new projections from the Federal Reserve show unemployment rising for the rest of this year.

Lil Wayne with Robin Thicke, Allen Toussiant and Terence Blanchard @ 2009 Grammy Awards

OK, before anybody start cussing me out for putting up Lil Wayne video on the Keeper's blog, listen for a second.

I didn't expect much out of Lil Wayne's performance, but the I dig Robin Thicke's music so I rolled with their performance, which was OK.

BUT, its the following performance where Lil Wanye brought out New Orleans jazz legends New Orleans musicians Allen Toussiant and Terence Blanchard (who scored Spike Lee's music from "Malcolm X" to "Inside Man") is the reason why I posted this video.

One of my gripes with Nawlins rappers is that their music never showcase the rich Dixieland history that made New Orleans famous.

In one failed swoop, Lil Wayne turned the Grammy's into a thriving street in New Orleans with tubas, trumpets, umbrellas twirling and thriving, bluesy piano rhythms, thus showcasing Lil Wayne's musical present, while embracing is Zydeco/Cajun music past.

This post isn't about calling Lil Wayne "The Best Rapper Alive", this is post is about acknowledging his musical growth, which hopefully will translate into his future music.

Swagga Like Us Grammy's 2009

From some reason the Swagger Like Us performances with T.I. M.I.A., Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne got a standing ovation, I don't know why.

The guys didn't do anything special, so it had to be the very pregnant M.I.A. who was quite nimble on her feet. How four grown men be outperfomed by a woman who is nine months pregnant is crazy to me.

Speaking of M.I.A. her lable handled the soundtrack for "Slumdog Millionaire"; check out the flick if you can, its quite good.

KRS-One interview with Alex Jones

Respect the DJ: DJ Premier, Still Shinin’

(XXLMagazine) When it comes to hip-hop architects, few are as revered as DJ Premier. As one-half of the legendary Gang Starr, the Brooklyn beatsmith (by way of Houston) has crafted classic tracks ranging from underground gems (Nas’ “N.Y. State of Mind,” the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Ten Crack Commandments”) to radio jams (Common’s “The 6th Sense,” Jeru the Damaja’s “Come Clean”) to mainstream smashes (Christina Aguilera’s “Back in the Day,” Limp Bizkit’s “N 2 Gether Now”).

Through it all, Preemo maintains his true school roots. That’s most evident with his label, Year Round Records, which houses hardcore acts like the NYGz and Blaq Poet. Taking a break from his Friday night satellite radio show on Sirius XM, “Live From HeadQCourterz,” Premier breaks down the foundation for his budding label and extends open invitations to Cory Gunz and Dr. Dre to spit on his tracks.

The History of Hip Hop Clans, Posses, Crews & Cliques

(XXL Magazine)

A decade before technology allowed for full-on crew mixtapes as an introduction to the extended family, there was the posse cut, all but invariably buried near the final third of an album, a showcase for the forthcoming talent. But this approach was sloppy reverse engineering of a working model.
The Juice Crew was not successful because of the power of any one person whose coattails were ridden to fame. In fact, the group’s earliest star, MC Shan, did not even appear on its defining moment, “The Symphony,” deeming his would-be co-stars as unworthy new jacks.
