Election 08: Rolling Stone-John McCain-Make-Believe Maverick

Last month, Rolling Stone Magazine had a great in-depth article on the life of Senator John Sidney McCain III. Here are few nuggets:

+ Allegedly a hard drinker and womanizer, McCain was so bad in military school that he finished 5th from the bottom of his class.
While most students would have been expelled for challenging their superiors, McCain was always safe due to the fact both his father and grandfather were admirals.

+ Like George W. Bush, John McCain allegedly has daddy issues. In his case, McCain was always had need to prove that he could be more successful than his father and grandfather.

+ Although he crashed three fighter planes during his military history, he was still allowed to fly a fighter plane in Vietnam, when in actually he was not qualified to do so.

+ Allegedly, all of the soldiers were given the choice to leave the P.O.W. camp in Vietnam early, but they all refused, not just McCain

+ in late 1970s McCain was really tight with Ronald and Nancy Reagan until he divorced his former beauty queen wife Carol (who was crippled in an auto accident in the late 1960s). A few weeks after the divorce, McCain married former USC cheerleader Cindy Hensley, (Cindy McCain is the daughter of a multimillionaire Anheuser-Busch distributor in Arizona and her worth is estimated around $100 million).

Shocked by the divorce, McCain's relationship with the Regans cooled and Nancy Reagan hired McCain's ex-wife to work for her in the White House.

+ McCain is now using the same Bush team that allegedly spread the word in South Carolina that he had a "black baby." In reality, Cindy adopted a young girl from Bangladesh.

The article is quite lengthy, but its pretty good. Check it out.
